Girl's Day

I went snowshoeing with my two sister-in-laws. They wanted to have a girls day with no kids and no husbands so I agreed to go along. We went to the same place we went before since we knew where to go. It was snowing the whole time we were snowshoeing so we accidentally got on the wrong trail on our way down and got lost for a couple hours, but all is well. We found our way back before we were snowed in. It was a blast just having a girls day, but we decided our next girl's day we will do something girly like shopping instead of getting lost in the wilderness for 2 hours!

Tough Mudder

Reed and his brothers went to Phoenix for a competition called the Tough Mudder. For those that don't know what a Tough Mudder is, it is basically a 12 mile course with obstacles in between. They all grew out their beards so when the day came they could each save a funny mustache of some sort. What nerds I know. They had a blast though and I'm just glad they made it home alive because they didn't train all too well. They took a lot of video that I plan to edit sometime until then these pictures will have to do.

On New Years Eve we decided it would be fun to do some snowshoeing and it was a blast for sure. It was the perfect day for it. The weather was nice and it was even too hot part of the day when we were hiking around. This was my first time snowshoeing and it definitely won't be my last. We went a little ways past purgatory, we were going to do a trail called potato lake but ran out of time so we didn't end up making it all the way, maybe next time. Anyways here are some pictures of our adventure.

Reed is now one step closer to finishing school. I currently work as a dental assistant, which I love! but can't wait to go back to school. In church Reed was recently called to Young Men's and I have served in Young Women's for a couple months now. We spend our time juggling between our families, work, church and school, but wouldn't have it any other way. We try to live life to it's fullest and are always having fun along the way.

2011 was awesome and we hope 2012 is just as adventuresome and successful.

Christmas

Our Christmas break was awesome! We got to spend some much needed quality time with our family. Reed got to do a lot of hunting with his brothers and I got to go shopping with my sisters and mom. This is the 3rd Christmas we have spent together and it seems like they keep getting better. I was a slacker and didn't get many pictures but these are a few of us.

Saturday was my 23rd birthday (old huh!) Well my hubby made it an awesome day, which started with breakfast in bed. He gave me some presents which I loved! We spent the day hanging out with some family and then that night he took me out to dinner and then to a movie, Sherlock Holmes. All in all it was an awesome day. 22 did me good and I know 23 will be awesome too. :)

Duck Hunting

Things have been going good for us lately. Just been busy with work, school and Christmas coming up. This year Reed has taken up a new hobby... Duck and goose hunting. He loves it! Rudy loves it too and was a natural at fetching (His breed is actually bird hunting dogs) Reed has been at least twice a week for the last 2 months. The impressive thing is he gets up at 4 am to go! Me, I sleep in :)

For Thanksgiving weekend Reed and I went to a family reunion in Monticello, UT for Reed's mom's side of the family. There was a TON of people but it was a lot of fun and even more fun just being off work and taking a break. This is most of Reed's immediate family but there are a few missing.

Reed and I went out Sat and did a little shooting. Reed bought me my very own .22 and I like to shoot it every now and then. After we shot all our bullets we went for a little hike and saw some really cool things so I took some pictures and thought I would share them.

Kickball Tournament

This weekend we were in a city kickball tournament with some family and friends and let me tell you it was so much fun! We played 5 games and in the tournament we played 3 games, so a total of 8 games. We won every one of our games and took first place!! In return we got a gift certificate to Applebee's. One lady commented that we were very good and I told her we travel the country and she believed me until I told her I was kidding. :)

Somehow we all ended up getting these stick on mustaches. They were super funny especially on Reed. We thought he looked like a Russian aerobics instructor and we all kept trying to get him to speak some Russian.

Our team name was "kick or die" but next year we are going to make it "kick your stash" :) We have to defend our title.

Jeeping In Ouray

This weekend we went to Ouray, CO to go Jeeping. We went on a trail called the Alpine Loop, just in time for the fall colors to start appearing. There was a little bit of fresh snow on the top of some passes but it was a beautiful day perfect for some Jeeping!

Reed's Birthday

Yesterday was Reed's 25th birthday. We had a great day together and Reed got some good presents, from me of course :) We didn't get to do anything super special because he had to go to school all that day and that night my little bro came home. {post on that later} However this weekend we are going to celebrate and have some fun like we do best.

Date Night

On Friday Reed really wanted to go see the movie Contagion, he really likes Matt Damon. I said okay but as long as he took me out to dinner before the movie. Well instead of dinner we first went golfing. Then instead of dinner again we went and played ultimate frisbee. Well ultimate frisbee didn't turn out so well. I was trying to block a throw and took a frisbee to the chin that resulted in this..

My first set of stitches! Yep crazy huh, I now have 4 stitches in my chin and Reed calls me stitch face. I guess I deserve it because I called him dipstick when he had his accident. We made it in time to go to the movie and had Sonic on the way, I guess he still took me out to dinner just not what I had in mind. The movie however stunk, not the best date we had in mind.

Highland Marys

This weekend Reed and I went on a hike past Silverton called Highland Marys. We left Friday morning and stayed the night and came home Saturday afternoon. It is about a 2 1/2 mile hike there which isn't too bad but its uphill so it makes it a little tougher. It was so pretty and that's why there is a overload of pictures.

Reed took his fishing pole to try some fishing. There was tons of fish jumping everywhere but he didn't catch anything, but we saw a guy there that caught a ton and he was using marshmallows. So next time we know the secret.

We hiked to the top of this ridge to get a good view of the whole place. Our tent is all the way down between the two lakes.

We had tons of fun being there and only saw 2 other people while we were there. It was a great hike and a great weekend with my love.

Cali 2011

On Monday {August 15, 2011} after the fair was over we took off to Cali for one last vacation before school starts. We decided to start our vacation off with a bang by going to The Price is Right on Tuesday Morning. We woke up at 4:30 AM drove an hour to the show and waited and waited in line. We made it through security, had our paperwork filled out, got our famous name tags and were all hyped up ready to go on the show (it was noon by now). Then after all this time waiting the producers of the show come out and say Drew Carey hurt his shoulder and the show had been canceled. Ugh talk about upset!

BUT we didn't let it ruin the rest of our trip.. We had extra fun instead!

Friday morning we rented bikes to ride around Newport Beach pier and rode them across the ferry to Balboa Island.

Tandem Love <3

On the way back Reed's mom and sister wanted to try out the tandem so Reed got to ride a girl's pink bike. :)

A cali trip wouldn't be complete without a little smash ball.

A week wasn't long enough but it was a fun week of going to the beach everyday. Reed got some good boogie boarding in and my tan is looking pretty good :) It was an awesome week just in time for school to start.

Family Reunion

A couple weekends ago Reed and I went to a family reunion for Reed's side of the family in Vallecito Colorado. Reed's parents have 17 grand kids (plus one grand-dog:) under 9 and they were all there except for one. There was never a dull moment with that many kids around. We were constantly on the go playing games, going to the lake, playing some more games, it was so much fun. I don't have many pictures yet so these will have to do.

Last week I went to the Bar-D with some family. Reed missed out on the fun because he was out of town with his brother. We had a competition of who could find the best outfit thrift store style. Paige and I hit up the thrift stores earlier that day and we were super proud of what we found from shirts down to our sweet boots.

Sleepover

A couple weeks ago Reed and I had a sleepover with these 3 lovely ladies.. Of course we had to make some smores with our fire pit in our back yard.

After we all were stuffed we ended our night snuggling on the couch and watched a movie.

Engineer Mountain

After a whole day of corn roasting and also after running a 5k with my mom, some of our family talked Reed and I into going on a night hike. We left Farmington at about 8 pm to
Engineer Mountain past Purgatory. The sunset was so pretty on the way there.

We got to the trail head at about 10:30. All ready to roll!

The hike was a little over 4 miles round trip but it was a steep hike that's for sure we went up over 2,000 ft in elevation. We all had fun but were so tired especially when we all crawled into bed at 4 am. But it was a blast and next time we will go in the day so we can actually see the view. :)

My Mom

Well my mom decided she wanted to train for a 5k so she did and wanted me to run it with her when the time came. Well that time was this Saturday. Lets just say I ran only one day before the race so I was super sore but my mom pushed me along. She is a champ and finished that 5k like a star.
I love my mom and am so proud of her for doing it!

River Fun

One of our favorite things to do in the summer is go to the river and boogie board. These are some pictures of our most recent visit.

This year Rudy had come to love the river. Last year all he would do is barely get his feet wet but this year he is a swimming machine. If you throw a stick out he won't come back until he has it, even if that means he rides a couple rapids before he gets it.

Lake Day

Saturday Reed and I took the day off and went to the lake with Justin and Brooke. It was a fun, hot day, perfect to be on the lake.

I wake boarded for my second time. :)

Los Alamos

{June 26th, 2011}
A couple weeks ago Reed and I were having a rough week and we decided we just needed to go on a little trip. We decided to leave after church to Los Alamos where Reed's sister Annie lives.

Yep we decided to take the motorcycle and less than half way there my buns were hurting. Its not a very comfortable ride for a long time, but it sure was fun and a cool experience.

Driving into town we saw this..

Long story short we were only able to stay 1 night instead of 2 and we were evacuated with Annie's family on Monday afternoon. The good news though the fire never reached the town and Los Alamos is back open.
It was sure a quick/short trip, but it was fun and we learned that is way to far for a bike ride.

Girls Camp

Things have been super busy in the Harris home lately.

A couple weeks ago I went to girl's camp for our church. I had a blast! I got to spend time with these lovely girls and got to know other girls from my church. It was such a fun week and even though I went as an adult leader many people thought I was one of the girls :)

Havasupai Falls Day 2 & 3

We woke up bright and early to begin our day.
(Reed took this photo and was so proud of it I had to post it)

Our first stop was to these falls called Rock Falls. Reed could get enough of them and I lost count of how many times he jumped off them. He is crazy I know.

I just went behind them instead.

We stopped at some more falls to play in.

After lunch we went back to Mooney Falls

We just couldn't get enough of this place.

Reed, Bryce and I decided to hike a little ways Friday night to get ahead start on the next day to hike out.

We just had to take a picture by this tree. Cute I know :)

We stopped by the village to take a look around. This is the LDS church they have there.

This is where we slept, just a pretty view under the stars.

This is the reason we wanted a head start is for this bad boy called the switch backs. The road seriously steep, hiking down them was a breeze but hiking up is a different story.

Lets just say I was not enjoying myself at this point, but if you never challenge yourself you will never know what you are capable of.

But we made it out and it was totally worth the pain! It was a blast and we just wish we could visit more often.

Havasupai Falls Day 1

{Thursday June 2}
We woke up at 2 am to drive to the spot of the Grand Canyon to hike down at. We started hiking down to Havasupai Falls at 5 am. This is what it looked like when we started. All you could see was head lamps coming down the canyon.

We saw some pretty sights along the way.

Tried to catch a ride but we weren't so lucky.

10 miles later we finally made it and was able to enjoy this beauty. The famous Havasu Falls.

We were so excited we could barely stand it!

We then took a little trip to see another waterfall called Mooney Falls.

It was quite the hike down.

This waterfall is the tallest in the continental U.S. and it is beautiful!

We then played in the river below Mooney falls in little drops like this one.
The pictures really do not do this place justice.

After a LONG day we soaked our feet in the river and went to bed because we had a big day ahead of us tomorrow.

Anniversary

This is a picture of our nephew Ezra at Riverfest this weekend. Yeah our roasted corn is that good, he was on his 3rd ear.

Monday was our 2nd anniversary! Can you believe we have been married for 2 years?! Time sure has flown by. (I have a separate post more on this later) We didn't do anything romantic, but its okay because in about an hour we are leaving to this place..

Awesome huh! Its called Havasupi Falls. We will be hiking in tonight and hiking out Saturday. I've never been before but that's all Reed's family ever talks about. Its going to be a blast, wish us luck!

Fun Times Outdoors

We took Rudy for a little hike in Largo Canyon with Reed's brother Bryce, cousin Justin and his wife Brooke. Its been nice having some time off and we wanted to have some fun with Rudy before we have to do corn. (which starts tomorrow as a matter of fact)

Garage Cleanup

On Monday Reed talked me into helping him clean up the garage and reorganizing it. Right after we started working he realized he had a physical therapy appointment and left me to clean the garage by myself for an hour and a half. Reed being the smart husband he is brought me back a little something.

Boy is my husband a smart man, he knows how much I love donuts. Nothing says I love you like bringing home these babies.

Backyard Transformation

In Octoberish we moved into the duplex we live in now and lets just say the backyard needed some work. Since it has warmed up lately we decided to fix up our yard before we begin our
summer job. This is the best before picture I have after we removed all the weeds and got the ground ready for to pour some concrete for a patio.

On Wednesday we poured the concrete, my hard working husband did a great job!

I even had some company while watching. They kept asking me the whole time when they could go jump in it :)

Our backyard is looking good! We have made a lot of progress and I will post pictures when we are done with our backyard transformation. We are getting good practice for when we buy a home of our own.

Moab

Reed and I had a plan that when we finished school we would get out of town for a few days to relax. We decided to go to Moab, UT because it was close but not to close.

Good thing because along the way Reed decided it would be nice to pick up a hitchhiker. I said no but Reed did anyways. Rudy liked having some company in the back.

Our first stop was the Goose neck State Park.

We spent the first night in Blanding with Reed's dad then next day we made it to Moab and we had to take Rudy to play. He loved these sand dunes!

On Thursday we went it to Arches National Park.

The 3 1/2 mile hike was worth it but we were all hiked out after that and decided we will have to take another trip to do some of the other hikes at the park.

But we still enjoyed some other views from the road :)

It was a great trip for the both of us and we had a blast getting away for a couple days with just the 2 of us, and Rudy :)

Savin' Up

Reed and I decided we needed to start saving a little each month for food storage and emergency preparedness. So we did just that but Reed decided the first thing we needed to buy was this...

That's right a hand gun for the food storage we ~~don't~~ will have! We went out to test it out a couple weeks ago. It is pretty sweet I will admit.

Peek-a-Boo

A couple nights ago Reed and I went somewhere in his truck and we left Rudy in the back. When we came back he was nowhere to be found, which was crazy because he never jumps out of the truck. We started calling his name and out pops his head out of the cab.

Imagine that big dog crawling through that little window. haha he is a huge dork.

P.S. Reed's surgery went great. Everything is fixed but it could be 8-10 weeks for full recovery, so that means he will be doing physical therapy along the way. But all is well.

Reed's Hand

{Tuesday April 26}
As I mentioned in my last post Reed was working on his truck when something unexpected happened. He was tightening a bolt when the wrench slipped off and shot his hand upward where he cut open his knuckles.
I took him to urgent care because we knew he would need some stitches. After waiting there which seemed like forever they sent us to the E.R. because they wanted to be safe.

We waited and waited and waited. Finally Reed was taken back and then we waited and waited some more before we saw the doctor. Once Reed's hand was numbed up the doctor took a look and found out that Reed cut his tendon.
Awesome...
Reed now has a surgery scheduled for Tuesday morning. Thank goodness we still have insurance is all I have to say.

BIG Orange

Reed has been wanting an older truck for some time now so we started looking around for some good deals. We found one that we both really liked but the guy sold it without ever calling us back, Reed was bummed. That day we were driving and saw one just like it in someone's field. It was in better shape, however it didn't have a for sale sign. "Mr. Bright Idea" {as our families like to call him} decided to go knock on their door to see if they wanted to sell it. 

I thought Reed was crazy and told him not to but.... he did anyway and much to my surprise they did want to sell it. I liked it, Reed loved it, it was in excellent shape and best of all it was a sweet deal. Meet our new addition to our family. 

A 1978 Ford F-150 Ranger. 

Our intentions are to put a little work into it here and there and get this thing in tip top shape. Reed was doing just that on Tuesday night when this happened...

Coke

Hello my name is Kaitlin and I was addicted to coke..

Yep that's right its official. I've been off coke for 3 weeks now. My closest friends and family all now how much I love it and I'll tell you it wasn't easy that's for sure.

After I got past the migraines the first 3 days it was easy, until I went back to work where I was serving people coke all day. Now I'm past all the cravings and I feel good!

Now my next addiction to quit, chocolate.. haha yeah right!

Coffee Table

When Reed and I were newly married we found a coffee table at a yard sale for $10 so we snatched it right up. The only thing it needed was a paint job. Reed decided he would be the one to take on this task and lets just say his finish on the table wasn't to my liking, but he LOVED it! Every time someone would come over and comment on our coffee table he would just look at me with the biggest smile. I finally decided to "fix" Reed's job, even though it wasn't that bad I just wanted it to go along more with my taste. Unfortunately I do not have any before pictures cause I'm ~~forgetful~~ cool like that.

I'm very happy with the way it turned out! Now I just need some cute decorations for the top, I already have a plan. Plus Reed said he likes my job better than his :)

Conference

This weekend Reed and I were able to go to Salt Lake for General Conference for our church. We went to go to Reed's mission reunion and hang out with some old mission companions. We were also able to hook up with one of my best friends Missy.

It was tons of fun but I am SOOO out of shape I was feeling it the next day. But my husband is awesome at racquetball! I kept cheating on the score and he still beat me.

{Saturday March 19, 2011}

We went for a bike ride with our nephew Eli.

Part 2 of me being SOO out of shape... However, it wouldn't have been so bad if we would've figured out that my back break was rubbing on the tire the whole time. Yeah we figured it out when we were done. Don't ask me why I didn't know, I was focused on trying not to pass out.

Do you remember one of my goals this year to run 2 half marathons? Yeah call me a procrastinator because I have done nothing these first 3 months.

Reed and I went running I went running last night. I ran about 1 1/2 miles.(no after picture of this one, trust me you don't want to see it) It felt good and surprisingly I feel really good today. We hope to keep it up because we both need it. I want to be able to walk to my car in the parking lot of Wal-mart without huffing and puffing.

Wednesday Night is the only night I get off work so Reed decided he needed to take me on a bike ride since it has been warming up. We ended up at Farmington Lake just in time to see the sunset. It was beautiful!

Lacie's Wedding

This weekend was my dear friend Lacie's wedding. Lacie and I have been friends since we were kids and I'm glad we have stayed friends over the years.

Even though Lacie and I are the same age it made me feel old being at her wedding. It was just kind of weird seeing my friend get married as I was one of the firsts.

Things have been super busy in the Harris home lately. Work, work, work and school school school. But the good news is only 1 1/2 weeks until spring break! Maybe then we will actually do something out of our regular routine, a girl can dream.

Superbowl Date Night

Reed and I placed a bet on the superbowl and whoever lost had to plan a hot date, sounds like a win-win situation huh? That's the only bets we really make. To start off our date we headed to Durango to eat at Steamworks. We ordered the Cajun Boil for 2, my favorite!

Then we headed to Trimble Hot Springs past Durango. Surprisingly that is the first time I've been there and we loved it! Our date ended with a movie and desert from Coldstone. It was great spending time with Reed since we've been so busy with school and work and haven't seen much of each other. We need to make bets more often. :)

On Christmas night Reed's parents dog was hit by a car in front of their house and died. Then a week later their baby left for college. Reed and I decided that what they needed was a puppy to keep them busy so we went to the pound and adopted them a puppy!
We had her for the first weekend so we took her to see my nieces and they loved her and could not put her down.

Rudy even liked her too!

Dresser Re-Do

I found this little dresser at goodwill for $15. Reed and I needed another dresser in our room so I decided to try fixing up one myself and put all my DIY blog reading to the test. Reed didn't know what to think when he went with me to pick it up.
And here she is!
I first sanded the top so I could stain it, then painted and Wa-lah!
I bought the cheapest little wood knobs and stained the knobs the same color as the top. (knobs are so expensive!)Reed was impressed and isn't going to doubt my skills anymore. It was actually quite fun and I'd like to try many more furniture re-dos.

Monticello

This past weekend we went to Monticello and we were able to visit our Temple.

But the highlight of our trip was seeing Reed's grandpa feeding his chickens.There is one chicken that the others pick and beat up on, so every morning when grandpa feeds the chickens he lets that chicken out of the coop. But its how he does it that is funny. {watch video below}

This year we have big plans. I don't like making "resolutions" but instead like making goals. Here are a few things I would like to work on this year.
1. Cook more, I need to become a better cook and the only way is doing it. {now just finding the time}
2. Stay in better shape. I hope to run 2 half marathons this summer. I need some motivation to stay in shape.
3. My daily scripture study. I know this will help me with everything to become a better person.

This year we (with help of my mom) decided it was best for us to both go to school full time. It has been one of the biggest blessings in our life. Not only is it fun being poor because we have to be more creative/frugal with our money we are creating a better future for our family. Thank goodness for parents that push us to be better.

2 years ago today was our first official (pick me up and meet the parents) date. Wow how time has flown by.Do we look any different?

Birthday Weekend

Friday was my 22nd Birthday (can't believe I'm that old), it was great and my sweet husband made sure it was the best day ever.I'm always cold so He bought me the comfy sweats I'm wearing (explains the tag on my shirt).
Then he made me this awesome jewelry holder! I had it just hanging on nails on the wall so he made this for me. I love it!

Friday morning we got up and drove to St. George, UT to visit some friends. That night we went out to a cool restaurant called the Anasazi.After dinner we visited the temple to see the Christmas lights and displays. Reed also gave me this nice North Face jacket once we got to St. George.
It was very pretty.
Saturday morning we went back to the temple. Then..

Experienced 5 Guys for the first time and fell in love.

Our friends took us to The Forgotten Carols Play. Reed had never seen it before but we both loved it.
Sunday night we had a little get together at my mom's and my sister Amanda made me an awesome cake. It says Princess KK of course.
Everyone was there including my dear friend Missy, but the only picture I got was a fuzzy one with my niece Olivia.
It was the best birthday weekend ever! Thanks to my awesome husband, family and friends.
Now the business of the Christmas season has begun..

Headboard

Reed built this headboard for me on one of his days off. It is almost done, I will post pictures soon of the finished product. But I am way excited about it because 1. I've wanted a headboard for a long time and 2. Reed is starting to learn how to do stuff that means many more projects to come :)
On a side note: Our last day of classes is TODAY! We have finals and then we have a month break from school. We are excited! We definitely need some lazy, nothing to do time.

Pre-Thanksgiving

This weekend we went to Los Alamos, NM where Reed's sister Annie lives. Reed's dad has to work Thanksgiving night so we decided to have a little pre-Thanksgiving dinner.

We went to this place called Valles Caldera outside of Los Alamos. It is a volcanic caldera and has a huge grass valley.

It was beautiful!

Pre-Thanksgiving dinner was so delish! Reed's step-mom Fila is a wonderful cook!
We decided to play some Cranium afterwards and the losers had to do ALL the dishes. We chose random teams and yep my team was victorious!

They wanted a rematch and we agreed but beat them again! This time they had to dance to a song for a minute (which I have on video but would be in BIG trouble if I posted that on here) Reed danced to Backstreet Boy's song Larger than Life. It was priceless.

We had such a fun time. Now we get another feast on Thursday with my parents!

Blanding

This weekend we went to Blanding to visit Reed's dad. Reed's dad is a big hunter so there are bones everywhere are Rudy loves it.We decided to go fishing which lasted about 5 minutes because it was SO cold!

Halloween

Last night we went to a church Halloween party and Reed insisted that I dress up. So I decided to be a cowgirl because it took the least amount of effort. Reed was a lumberjack. He wanted me to be a tree and make my hair wild like branches and put a nest in my hair. I said "noooo way!!"
Halloween is just awkward for us because we don't have kids yet and we don't do trick or treating or anything. But we had a good time and finished off the night watching a scary movie with some friends.

I haven't had a good Rudy post in a while so here is a little reminder of how I have such a strange dog...

So as I said before we recently moved and in our new backyard there is this little fort kind of thing that we haven't had a chance to take down yet. We look out the window one morning and this is what we find.

Rudy chillin on the fort! We didn't even know it was strong enough to hold him but apparently he figured that it was. What a weird dog we know, he will just chill up there all day and watch cars drive by.

4 Wheeling

This weekend we went 4-wheeling in the canyon with our dear friend Heidi. They have tons of 4 wheelers so everyone got their own.

Reed thinks he is a professional photographer or something and was making Paige get in a pose for the picture and her wheels came off the ground in the process.

We hiked to this cool spot that we want to have a bonfire at this weekend.It was a blast! Thanks Heidi!

Things have been quite busy lately. We recently moved apartments and have been slowly trying to get things organized whenever we find spare time. Life sure is busy but we are loving every minute of it and know that all the hard work will pay off later. The semester is half way over, woo hoo! We are definitely looking forward to Christmas break. It will be a nice breather before we start up again.

Shiprock fair

Labor Day

After being busy with school, work and life for 2 weeks we already needed a break so for Labor Day Reed and I went jeeping in Silverton with his family. It was an all day excursion and was exactly what we needed to get away. It was tons of fun and we saw some great things.

We definitely want to go back soon, hopefully we will be able to find time because this is going to be a busy semester!

After a tough week of corn roasting for the County Fair we decided to take a little relaxation time and go camping. We camped for 3 days 2 nights on the La Plata Mountains next to Kennebec Pass. It was a blast! We took Reed's sis Paige and nephew Eli.

Reunion

This weekend we went to a family reunion on Monticello Mountain.
To yep roast corn..
Rudy made some mamma cows angry. Good thing he can run faster!

They had a Zip line at the reunion and every time you went down it you had to take the seat back to the top. Some of the little kids took a long time to walk it back so Reed had a great idea to tie a stick to the rope. Check out the video below its pretty funny.

It was a great time being in the mountains. Rudy absolutely loved it.

Monday we went to Blanding to go fishing with Reed's dad. It was a great day of fishing because we caught 19 fish!

Dulce

This past weekend we went to Dulce, NM for the Little Beaver Roundup Celebration to sell corn. They had a rodeo and a pow wow and a carnival for 3 days. There was 3 other corn roasters there but we still did pretty good because of this guy.

He went back and forth all day between the rodeo and pow wow selling corn like the popcorn guys do. (Ignore the face he's making, he doesn't like me taking pictures of him)
This was the first pow wow I've ever seen and it went ALL night. It makes me dizzy watching them dance.
We sold roughly 1056 ears of corn and it was hard work, but there's nothing like working hard together .

Cali

After roasting corn for 4th of July weekend we headed to California for a much needed vacation with some family. We spent a week going to a different beach every day and boy was it great!
We had way too much in-n-out and ice cream while we were there but it definitely was a good relaxing fun time. It went by way too fast, we've already been back a week but have been staying busy busy.

New Toy

Reed bought a new bike recently because "he just needed it". But really its a bunch of fun and we plan to take some little weekend trips on it. It is a Honda Shadow and rides really nice.

Rudy loves it and loves to run beside us.
Reed's mom even loves it. Yes, even she took it for a spin! Something I would never dare to do.
It should be lots of fun. Don't worry we both have helmets!

For the past 3 weeks my sister (in-law) Meshan and I have been training for a half-marathon (13.1 miles) in Durango. We weren't the most dedicated in training and kinda avoided the sight of hills... well the 1/2 marathon was today and boy was it full of hills and it was really tough! But we made it (barely) and had fun.
Almost done!
Definitely was some good bonding time whining the last 5 miles :) We'll be better prepared next year but we felt very accomplished!

Farmington Lake

For Memorial day we went 4 wheeling on La Plata Mountain. It was so pretty and lots of fun. It was good to be in the mountains for a couple hours to just relax. We couldn't go to the top because there was still snow in some places but we plan to go back when its all melted.

Yes it has already been a year, crazy I know! This is how we celebrated our anniversary weekend.

Romantic huh. but really we couldn't pass up the chance to make some money for school and it was worth it! This is how we will spend our summer making money. It will be tough but we will have all winter to recover.

One customer today even recognized me as "the ring girl" funny huh. It made my day.

This past year has gone by so fast. We have both grown a lot and learned a lot. We are even more in love than this time last year. <3

Saturday we went fishing all day with our friends Bracy and Shaun. First we went to Navajo Lake and had no luck...

Then we went to Morgan lake for a few hours and Rudy came with us. He loved it. We didn't have much luck at Morgan either. We were getting ready to leave and I said One more. Well one more was all it took. I caught a catfish!
Rudy went crazy over the fish, but we put it back. All in all a great day of fishing!

Paria Canyon

This past weekend we went on a hike near Page, AZ. It is in Peria Canyon and was about 28 miles total in 3 days. It was a lot of fun, but tough! We went with Reed's parents, brother Preston, sister Paige, and his aunt and uncle that live in Monticello.
Rudy absolutely loved it! We even got him a little pack for him to carry his own food.

Yeah we had to walk through waist deep freezing cold muddy water... more than once.

Ok I guess it was pretty funny....

Yesterday Reed called me while he was at work and said "I just got the weirdest call, someone called me and said they wanted out weimaraner puppy named Rudy. He said it was on craigslist for free."

Then He asked me if I put Rudy for sale on craigslist. I said no of course not. (he drives me crazy sometimes but not that crazy).

I looked on craigslist and this is what I found...
It freaked me out a little because they knew Reed's name and REAL number, knew Rudy's name and had actual pictures that I took MYSELF.

Reed got call after call about our "free puppy".

Finally, we figured it out that it was Reed's brother Shawn that put it up since we got him pretty good for April Fool's. Lets just say I was glad it was family and not some freaky person stalking us.

The calls have kept coming, today he's received about 20 calls total. It was a good joke, if anyone needs a joke to play on someone this is a good one!

Salt Lake

This weekend we went to Salt Lake for Reed's mission reunion. While we were there we went to the Salt Lake temple.
It was awesome!
We spent the rest of the weekend in Blanding with Reed's dad. It was a good weekend away from home!

This past weekend I babysat this little girl while mom and dad went out of town.

Lets just say I learned quite a bit for the future when I have kids of my own.
1. Don't give them chap-stick unattended, they will eat it.
2. Chicken and beer (root beer) makes everything okay.
3. No matter how much you wish, stinky diapers do not change them self.
4. Sleeping in days are over. (I am not looking forward to that time.)
5. Lets just say its a good think they are born before the talking and walking begins.

Yesterday we went to Mesa Verde with some friends of ours.

Reed served his mission in the Baltic countries (Lithuania, Latvia & Estonia) with a missionary couple, the McCunes. They came into town to visit us BUT this year they have a foreign exchange student Agnes from Estonia that Reed taught on his mission. The McCunes served in Latvia so they knew Agnes very well also and that's why she came to live with them for the year.

My dorky husband

As most of you know my husband is a big dork. Well he reminded me of that this weekend when he entered a wrestling tournament in Albuquerque with some high school friends. I guess it was a big deal because there was over 1,000 wrestlers.

They had 8 mats going at one time.
My dorky husband did way good for having no physical activity since high school. He practiced all week and was way serious about it. I thought it was funny and laughed every time he talked about it. Well he got 2nd place!(in his weight category)

I asked him to take a picture with his medal he got but he wouldn't, he said he's not a little kid anymore. [he only got excited like a little kid]

Here is my little stud his senior year. He was state runner up back in the day. I'm not a fan of wrestling but I'm a fan of Reed.

Our families have got a kick out of it and his sister Meshan started calling him Nacho [nacho libre] I'm just glad Reed has a good sense of humor because this is only the start!
