Jury Duty

I think it was February that I was called to serve on jury duty. Lucky little me was going to school full time so I figured I'd be able to get out of it, so I sent in my schedule. Then I get another letter basically saying "oh no problem you can serve in the summer." Dangit!

I was rescheduled to serve in July and started out with 6 days throughout the month. I was not very happy about it. I am 19 years old and have to serve on jury duty. That made me feel like an old woman. Then they gave me 4 more days which made me even more grouchy about it.

I called every night and morning before my scheduled date and over and over I didn't have to appear. Well today was my last day and guess what? I didn't have to appear!

I went the whole month and didn't have to appear once! Hooray for me. I think it is because I was on Panel 7. 7 is a lucky number after all.

Bowling & Missing Babies

Last night me and a couple of my friends decided to go bowling since we haven't been in a while. We were on our 3rd and last game and we all sucked so bad we were just messing around. Lacie was going to bowl when this little boy got in her way. He was probably 1 1/2. We finally got him out of the way and continued bowling.
We didn't think anything of the boy cause we figured his parents were around there somewhere and just didn't see him come by us. Well the boy keeps walking around and his parents are no where to be found. His whole family was bowling near us and had probably 4 or so kids and they forgot one! So the bowling alley calls the police because they don't know what else to do with the kid.

Finally they find out who the parents are but come to find out the kids just got out of child haven because the parents weren't taking care of them so they don't even give the little boy back to the parents. They give him to some family friends. I thought it was kind of funny at first that they forgot him but it didn't sound like the first time they've done it. Poor kids...

Church Softball

Every year for our Pioneer Celebration in Kirtland we have a church softball league. Since I basically like playing every kind of sport I'm on a team with my friends. Its pretty fun and we've won every game we've played so far. Even though I'm not exactly what you call an all-star its just fun playing.
Well tonight after our game my ward was playing and didn't have enough players so they recruited most of my team to play, so we did just for fun. About 3/4 into the game I was at 3rd base and the ball was thrown over first so I decided to make a run for home. I was almost there and decided to slide into the plate. I was halfway down and all of a sudden things just go black. The next thing I know i'm laying on the plate and everyone is staring at me. I got hit in the jaw with the ball! I didn't even really feel a whole lot of pain but the ump was staring at me like I was dead. I just grabbed my jaw got up and said I'm okay. They kept asking me over and over if I was but I really was okay.
The weird thing is it didn't even hurt. It wasn't some cheap throw either cause it was a guy and threw it right to my face. Since the game was almost over I just sat the rest out with a cold water bottle on my face. Everybody kept coming to look at me, asked me if I had all my teeth, and if I was alright. I must be doing something right because you would think getting hit in the face would be pretty painful. All the guys kept calling me tough because they said if it were them they'd be crying.
I just went home and put some ice on it and it only hurts when I try to eat or laugh so don't make me laugh! lol I'm thinking I'm going to have a pretty big bruise tomorrow though. Needless to say I'll still be playing next week. :)
